At The Church of the Good Shepherd, the Children’s & Youth Music Ministry strives to create a

fun, inclusive, and safe environment for all participants. To ensure a positive experience for

everyone, we ask all students, staff, counselors, and volunteers to follow these guidelines:

1. Respect for Others

● Treat all students, staff, and volunteers with kindness and respect.

● Bullying, teasing, or exclusion of others will not be tolerated.

● Bragging about a role that you received OR accusing students of stealing roles is

prohibited.

● Listen when others are speaking and use appropriate language at all times.

2. Respect for Property

● Take care of program property, equipment, and materials.

● Do not take or damage items that belong to others.

● Clean up after yourself and help keep program spaces tidy.

3. Safe and Responsible Behavior

● Follow instructions from program staff and leaders.

● Stay within designated program areas unless given permission to leave.

● Use equipment and supplies properly and safely.

● No roughhousing, fighting, or inappropriate physical contact.

● Respect other people’s space and body boundaries on and off stage.

4. Participation, Attitude, and Professionalism

● Engage in activities with a positive attitude and willingness to try new things.

● Be on time and ready for each scheduled activity.

● Encourage and support fellow students.

● Approach all aspects of the program with a level of professionalism, including

interactions with staff and peers.

● Accept constructive feedback with grace and use it to grow as a performer and team

member.

5. Inclusion, Teamwork, and Accountability

● Welcome and include others in activities and conversations.

● Celebrate differences and appreciate each student’s unique contributions.

● Work together to solve problems and resolve conflicts in a peaceful manner.

● Take accountability for your actions, words, and participation. If a mistake is made,

acknowledge it, apologize if necessary, and work to make it right.

6. Health and Safety

● Follow all safety guidelines and emergency procedures.

● Report any accidents, injuries, or unsafe behavior to a staff member immediately.

● Bring only approved items to programs—no weapons, drugs, alcohol, or inappropriate

materials are allowed.

7. Technology and Personal Items

● Use of personal electronic devices (phones, tablets, etc.) should be limited and only

allowed at designated times, such as snack, breaks, and lunch.

● The program is not responsible for lost or stolen personal items.

Consequences for Misconduct

Failure to follow the Code of Conduct may result in the following actions, depending on the

severity of the behavior:

1. A verbal warning and discussion with a leader.

2. A meeting with program leadership and possible loss of privileges.

3. A call to parents/guardians to discuss behavior concerns.

4. Dismissal from the program without a refund in cases of serious or repeated violations.

Church of the Good Shepherd reserves the right to dismiss any student from its youth programming at its sole discretion, including but not limited to violations of this Code of Conduct, behavior that jeopardizes the safety, well-being, or learning environment of others, or conduct deemed inappropriate by program leadership. In such cases, dismissal may occur without a full or partial refund. Additionally, Church of the Good Shepherd reserves the right to prohibit a dismissed student from participating in future programs or camps.
