With the observance of Ash Wednesday, we begin the holy season of Lent with the Imposition of Ashes and Holy Eucharist. In an ancient practice, we receive the mark of ashes on our forehead as a reminder of our mortality and a call to repentance. This year (2021), we will celebrate a socially distanced Ash Wednesday, which means that every household may collect blessed ashes for self-imposition during our two Ash Wednesday worship services.
