Home Outreach

Putting our faith and love into action, serving our neighbors near and far

The work of the Outreach Committee is the work of the whole church – helping those in need, connecting with people beyond our parish, and building a stronger community. We invite you to join with us in these ministries. For more information email officemanager@good-shepherd.net.

A FACETS Hot Meals cooking team

FACETS Hot Meals
Reach out to the poor and homeless through the services of FACETS (Fairfax Area Christian and Emergency Transitional Services). Good Shepherd has six Hot Meals teams that prepare and deliver meals 40 nights during the year, provides lunches for disadvantaged children when schools are closed, has annual collections for baby supplies and school supplies, and provides direct financial assistance to FACETS.

El Hogar, Tegucigalpa, Honduras
Support a loving, Christian home and education for some 250 abandoned, orphaned, and needy children in Honduras. Good Shepherd members sponsor individual children, and we have a Thanksgiving “Friend a Child” fundraiser.

Food and supplies collections
Special food drives and ongoing donations from the parish help keep food banks stocked to reach those in need. Good Shepherd also is very generous with the annual collections of school supplies and baby supplies.

Camp Hope
High school kids help repair houses in poor, rural areas in an intensive, week-long mission trip
