Biography - Chris Camillo |
Chris Camillo joined the Church of the Good Shepherd in 2000. She currently serves as a FACETS team leader and preschool Sunday School teacher. Chris was employed by the federal government from 1992 to 2006, most recently as Division Director for Operations in the Department of Labor's Office of Child Labor, Forced Labor and Human Trafficking. She recently resigned from her job to spend more time with her two children. Chris also teaches adult cooking classes for Fairfax County Public Schools. She holds masters degrees in International Affairs and Secondary Education. Chris lives with her husband, Chuck, and sons, Drew (3 1/2) and Sam (11 months) in Annandale. I am excited about the opportunity to serve on the vestry of the Church of the Good Shepherd. If elected, I would bring 14 years experience in the federal government managing personnel, multi-million dollar budgets, and complex and sensitive service projects to this position. With this experience, I would explore ways that the church can continue to provide high quality services to its members in a more efficient and cost effective manner. As a former secondary school teacher, I also possess a strong background in education that would be useful in developing more programs and service opportunities for youth. Finally, with my knowledge of international affairs, fluency in Spanish and experience teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages, I would be able to assist the church in its efforts to better communicate with and provide services to the diverse members of our Northern Virginia community.
