Outreach Ministry

The Church of the Good Shepherd has an active Outreach program to help those in need in our own backyard and around the world.

Financially, we help support an orphanage in Haiti, where individual church members also provide scholarships for the children. Here at home, there are cooking teams providing hot meals to the homeless in Fairfax through the FACETS organization (Fairfax Area Christian Emergency and Transition Services). We also have an on-going food drive for the local food bank and provide religious services and other assistance to the Northern Virginia Training Center, a residence for disabled adults.

The work of Outreach is truly the work of the whole congregation. Only half of the support for local and international ministries comes from General Fund Money. The rest comes from direct solicitation, fundraising, and your contribution of time and treasure. Money raised for the Outreach Compassion Fund goes directly to these many ministries, putting action to Christ's call to help the needy.
