Mission Trip to El Salvador

Each year Outreach provides money to help fund a mission trip, usually to Central America, to help with a building project.

Are you looking for a way to help other less fortunate, and do it in a world away?  A new church mission trip to El Salvador will provide a great opportunity to do just that.

We fly together to San Salvador and stay together through out the seven days. Five of those days will be spent working on a 50- house project. We will be doing unskilled manual tasks and interacting with community members, clergy and staff. We'll do a little sight seeing and visiting other projects. Our purpose is to be part of an Episcopal Relief and Development, or ERD, project in El Maizal, El Salvador.

The mission team will live in a large house with bedrooms set up as bunkrooms, men separated from women. Each volunteer funds his/her the travel and room and board which totals about $900. Good Shepherd provides a contribution for materials to build one house.

This is a terrific opportunity to make a contribution to the poor in El Salvador. The project is well managed by ERD and the Episcopal Diocese of El Salvador. You will feel like you have gained more than you have contributed when we return. Youth are very welcome and encouraged to participate, but they must be a minimum age of 16.
