Disaster Relief 

The Disaster Response Subcommittee coordinates parish-wide efforts for disaster aid including immediate assistance such as monetary, clothing, and food donations and long-term efforts encompassing the different stages of the recovery process.

The Outreach Commission strongly encourages all interest groups and ages within Good Shepherd to participate.  Please feel free to contact members of the Disaster Response Subcommittee with specific concerns, questions, and ideas.

The Disaster Relief Ministry recommends you make donations to the following organizations.

Episcopal Relief and Development (www.er-d.org)

Episcopal Relief and Development responds to human suffering around the world. It provides emergency assistance after disasters, rebuilds communities, and helps children and families climb out of poverty.

Diocese of Virginia (www.thediocese.net)

The Episcopal Diocese of Virginia's website will often publish articles specific to current disaster relief. This is a great place to start.

Fairfax Family Cares (www.fxfc.org)

A non-profit organization whose mission is to "enrich our Fairfax County community by welcoming persons displaced by Hurricane Katrina through assistance with employment, housing, schooling, human services and other basic needs. This is a joint effort by many groups and individuals to expand upon ongoing county, school and community efforts and provide a continuum of services for this second phase."
