Baptism Ministry

The purpose of this ministry is to provide each family with a sponsor from this congregation to personally guide them through the wonderful process of baptism and welcome them to our parish family.  The Baptism Ministry has also planned our liturgy to reflect our understanding of Baptism.  The sponsors carry banners before their families in the processions.  This represents everyone's ministry to bring others into Christ's Church. During the ceremony, the sponsor first stands with the family at the candidate's introduction, hangs the banner on the font during the actual baptism, and then walks with the family into the sanctuary: all representing the new relationship to God through Jesus Christ.
